For payment to William Mathewson of Kansas of the balance of `William Metliamount due him for flour delivered to the Indian Service at Fort Sill, ewson- Indian Territory, in the year eighteen hundred and seventy four, as passed and allowed by the Indian Bureau, two thousand nine hundred and £ifty-four dollars. Sec. 3. That the sum of two hundred and twenty-one thousand two hundred and fifty-seven dollars and eighty-six cents be, and the same is hereby, appropriated, out of an? money in the Treasury of the United States not otherwise appropriate , to pay the Miami Indians of Indiana im,,,,,,;,,.;;,,,,,,,; the principal sum that became due them on the iirst day of July, eight- Indiana. een hundred and eighty, in accordance with the amended fourth article of the treaty concluded with said Indians on the fifth day of June, eight- 10 Stat., 1005. een hundred and fifty four, and ratined on the fourth day of August, eighteen hundred and tlfty four. Sec. 4. That the Secretary of the Interior shall appoint a competent Census. and proper person to take a census and make a list of the Miami Indians residing in Indiana, or elsewhere, who are entitled to participate in the distribution of said principal sum, as provided by article four of the treaty that was made between the United States and the Miami Indians on the fifth day of June, eighteen hundred and fifty four, as 10 Stat., 1099. amended in the Senate. Before taking such census, publication shall onmns under be made requiring all persons claiming under said treaty to make known f P 0 M yi W li 0 ¤ their claim to such person so appointed, within a time specified in the b"‘"°d· notice, and failing so to do, they shall be forever barred. When said census shall be so made, it shall be the duty of the person so appointed to make such enumeration and list to report the same to the Secretary List to distinof the Interior, distinguishing in his report between males and females, i,¥“‘l”*{ '“’*lf.;“ ,,"f"l and between those over twenty-one years of age and those under twenty- ,f°sd’;,.°",g_ 0 f,';; one years, which list so made, when approved by the Secretary of the tweni.y-0ne years_ Interior, shall stand as the true list of the persons entitled to share in ¤f are the payments provided for in this act; and each person named in said Payments, how list shall be entitled to receive the same amount, irrespective of age or ”“’*d°- sex, payments for minors to be paid to the guardians legally appointed, as hereinafter provided, under the laws of the State or Territory in which said minors reside: Provided, however, That any minor who may Promo. be a resident of the Indian Territory and a beneficiary of said fund may receive his or her share thereof, as the case may be, through a guardian appointed by any court having probate jurisdiction in the State of Kansas.
