Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United Appmpriations. States of America in Ocmgress assembled, That the following sums be, A¤¤Y· and the same are hereby, appropriated, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, for the support of the Army for the year ending June thirtieth, eighteen hundred and eighty-four, as follows : Com mauding For expenses of the Commanding Gener:1l’s Office, one thousand seven G¤¤¤r=¤1'¤ viii M- hundred and Hiiy dollars. Recruiting. For expenses of recruiting and transportation of recruits from rendezvous to depot, one hundred and ten thousand dollars. And no money appr0pri2.ted_ by this acc shall be paid for recruiting the Army beyond the number of twentyfdve thousand enlisted men, including Indian soouts and hospitalstowards; and thereafter there shall be uq more than twenty-five thousand enlisted men in the Army am any one time, unless otherwise authorized by law.
