Thomas, who was ldlled by the Modoc Indians in eighteen hundred and seventy-three, while acting as a member of a peace commission sent by the United States Government to treat with the said Indians, and to pay her, from and after lthe passage of this act, during her widowhood, the sum of twenty do lars a month.
