Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United Smneyrz. Smith. States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Treas- Payment to. nry be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to pay to Sidney R. Smith, late a sergeant in the Thirty-third Regiment of New Jersey Infantry Volunteers, the pay and allowances of a second lieutenant of infantry from the tenth day of March, eighteen hundred and sixty-four, the date at which he was assigned to duty under his commission as such, to the date of his actual discharge irom service, deducting therefrom the pay received by him as sergeant during said period. Record amend Sec. 2. That the Secretary of War be, and he is hereby, authorized °d- and directed to amend the record of the said Sidney R. Smith and to muster him as a second lieutenant of infantry, to date March tenth, eighteen hundred and sixty-four, the date at which he entered upon duty imder the commission issued to him by the governor of the State of New Jersey as of that rank. States of Amcrokza in Congress assembled, That the sum of two thousand P¤5¤¤¤¤* **>· six hundred dollars is appropriated, out of any moneys in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to be paid to the legal representatives of Francis Gilbeau, deceased, in full of claims against the United States for the rent of houses and other buildings belonging to said Gilbeau, in Galveston and San Antonio, Texas, during the years eighteen hundred and sixty·ilve and eighteen hundred and sixty-six.
