Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the £°"" C°°k· Treasury be, and hereby is, authorized and directed to pay to Peter aymomm Cook, of Lonoke County, Arkansas, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum of nine hundred and four dollars, being the amount found by the Court of Claims to be due to him as a loyal citizen for stores and supplies taken and used by the Federal Army during the late war. Approved, February 13, 1897; CHAP. 232.—An Act Granting a pension to James L. Wing. February 15, 1897. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United _ States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the i22Q1f' W“‘g‘ Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, at the rate of twenty dollars per month, James L. Wing, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, late private Company G, Forty-third Regiment Ohio Volunteer Infantry. Approved, February 15, 1897. ‘ CHAP. 233.-An Act For the relief of Elnora Shuman. February 15, 1897. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the E§‘,‘§,§fh“““‘ Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of Elnora Shuman, widow of John Shuman, deceased, and foster mother of W. E. Shuman, late of Company K, O11e hundred and seventh Regiment Pennsylvania Infantry Volunteers, and James F. Shuman, late of Company D, Eleventh Regiment Pennsylvania · Cavalry Volunteers, and pay her a pension of twelve dollars per month. Approved, February 15, 1897. CHAP. 235.-An Act For the relief of John N. States naval service, are hereby suspended for the purpose of this Act , only, and only so far as they atlect John N. Quackenbush; and the President of the United States is hereby authorized, in the exercise of his discretion and judgment, to nominate and, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, to appoint said John N. Quackenbush, late a commander in the Navy of the United States, to the same grade and rank of commander in the United States Navy as of the date of August first, eighteen hundred and eighty-three, and to place him on the retired list of the Navy, as of the date of Julie first, eighteen hundred and _ ninety-tive; Provided, That he shall receive no pay or emoluments 15mg_ except irom the date of such reappointmeut. ’ Received by the President, February 4, 1897.
