Ch. 1008. 1903. 1151 carcasses, and products thereof, herein named: Provided f:Il7‘¢]I.€7', That the Secretary of Agriculture may in his discretion waive the Waiving inspection requirement of a certificate with beef and other products which are °°’“°°“t"S· exported to countries that do not require such inspection, one million two hundred thousand dollars; and the Secretary of Agriculture is Preventing disease hereby authorized to use any part of this sum he may deem necessary ““‘°“‘ ““i’““1s‘ or expedient, in such manner as he may think best, in the collection of information concerning live stock, dairy, and other animal products, and to prevent the sprea of pleuro-pneumonia, blackleg, tuberculosis, sheep scab, glanders or farcy, hog cholera, and other diseases of animals, and for this purpose to employ as many persons in the city of Washington or elsewhere as he may deem necessary, and to expend any _P¤rch¤se._ ew., or part of this sum in the purchase and destruction of diseased or exposed d”°”°d °°}m”]”‘ animals and the quarantine of the same whenever in his judgment it is essential to prevent the spread of leuro—pneumonia, tuberculosis, or other diseases of animals from one State to another; for im rovingand maintaining the Bureau Experiment Station at Bethesda, Miiryland; to BEt¤;v€s_§im§;; ¤¤·¤¤¤· establish, improve, and maintain quarantine stations, and to provide iquimiihueémuom. proper shelter and equipment for the care of neat cattle, domestic and other animals imported at such ports as may be deemed necessary; for printing and publishing such reports relating to animal industry as he may direct; and the Secretary of Agriculture may use so much of `{$g_*ef;*¤·m&rm_ for this sum as he deems necessary for promoting the extension and devel- mm pri-cues. `_ o ment of foreign markets for dairy and other farm products of the Upnited States, and for suitable transportation of the same; and such products may be bought in open market and disposed of at the discretion of the Secretary of Agriculture, and he is authorized to apply the moneys received from the sales of such products toward the continuation and repetition of such experimenta exports; and the Secre— L¤b<>¤>wrrtary is hereby authorized to rent a suitable building in the District of Columbia, at an annual rental of not exceeding one thousand eight hundred dollars, to be used as a laboratory for said Bureau of Animal Industry; and the employees of the Bureau of Animal Industry outside of the city of Washington may hereafter, in the discretion of the L°°"°#°‘ ’*'°*°¤°*· Secretary of Agriculture, without additional expense to the Government, be granted leaves of absence not to excee fifteen days in any I _ _ i 1 one year: Ihwided, That the Secretary of Agriculture may construe ,,,,{}Z’§`§l`°" °’ "` W the provisions of the Act of March third, eigliteen hundred and fig}; ninety-one, as amended March second, eighteen undred and ninety-' five, for the inspection of live cattle and products thereof, to inclu e dairy products intended for exportation to any foreign country, and may apply, under rules and regulations to he prescribed by him, the provisions of said Act for inspection and certification appropriate for ascertaining the purity and quality of such (products, and may cause the same to be so marked, stam ed, or labele as to secure their identity and make known in the markets of foreign countries to which they may be sent from the United States their purity, quality, and grade; . and all the provisions of said Act relating to live cattle and products thereof for ex rt shall a ply to dairy products so inspected and certi— _ _ fied: Pr0ve'de<Zl)_?}zrtbe2·, That not to exceed four thousand dollars of ,,,;},‘_h°°‘“‘ °" J" m` the amount hereby appropriated may be used to purchase additional land for the quarantine station at Athenia, New Jersey: Aizdprovided _ _fiu·the7·.
