The said commissioners are hereby empowered to prescribe the penalty or penalties for violation of any charge fixed by them. mmm. MJLITIA OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA. E¤¤¤¤¤¢=· For the following, to be expended under the authority and direction of the commanding general, who is hereby authorized and empowered to make necessary contracts and leases, namiliy: C··¤l>¤» M- For expenses of camps, including hire of horses for officers required to be mounted, and such hire not to be deducted from their mounted pay, instruction, practice marches and practice cruises, drills and parades, rent, fuel, light, heat, care, and repair of armories, practice ships, boats, machinery and dock, dredging alongside of dock, and for tele hone service, orty-nve thousand three hundred dollars. For lockers, furniture, and gymnastic apparatus for armories, seven hundred and fifty dollars. For printing, stationery, and postage, two thousand one hundred and fifty dollars. For cleaning and repairing uniforms, arms, and equipments, and contingent expenses, two thousand dollars. For custodian in charge of United States property and storerooms, one thousand dollars. For clerk, office of the adjutant— eneral, one thousand dollars. For expenses of rifle practice ami matches, one thousand dollars. PW- For pay of troops, other than government employees, to be disbursed under the authority and direction of the commanding general, mma;. eighteen thousand five hundred dollars: Provided, That all moneys ,,,‘,’§.‘Q,;Q§}f$f‘” ’°' ’°"" collected on account of deductions made from the pay of any officer or enlisted man of the National Guard of the District of Columbia on account of government property lost or destroyed by such individual shall be repaid into the Unite States Treasury to the credit of the officer of the militia of the District of Columbia who is accountable to the United States Government for such property lost or destroyed: V~¤<>f¤¤¤¤.<·¤¤· Pravidedfurther, That all monfegys collected on account of deductions made from the pay of an officer or enlisted man of the National Guard of the District of Coliumbia for or on account of any violation of the regulations governing said national ard shall be held by the commanding general of the militia of the District of Columbia, who is authorized to expend such moneys so collected for necessary clerical and general expenses of the service, heretofore or hereafter incurred, including law books and books of reference, or for the pay of troops, other than government employees; and for all moneys so collected and expended the commanding general shall make an accounting in like manner as for the appropriation disbursed for pay of troops: mg <·f ¤x>x>¤<>x>¤¤— Prcmrled further, That any of the moneys appropriated for the ' District of Columbia Militia mav be used to supplement s iecific appropriations or allotments which may be found insufficient flor the xaairicnmmucm. purposes for which made, and authority is hereby given to supplement the regular ration by urchase of such additional articles of _ subsistence as may be deemedp necessary.
