2498 PROCLAMATIONS, 1909. ’“'Y*"·“’°°- Bx rms: PRESIDENT or rim UNITED STATES or Ammuon, A PROCLAMATION t,M¤%¤w¤¤v Ng- Whereas, the Mukuntuweap canyon, through which flows the digi. °u°m°n ’ North Fork of the Rio Vir in, or Zion River, in Southwestern Utah, P'°°"“"°· is an extraordinary example of canyon erosion and is of the greatest scientific interest, and it appears that the public interest would be romoted by reserving it as a National monument, with such other limd as may be necessary for its protection; _ U{"g~_¤¤m*¥¤¤¤¤¢¤*· Now, therefore, I, William H. aft, President of the Uhltéd States v¤i.s4,p.2zs. of America, by virtue of the power in me vested by Section 2 of the Act of Congress approved June 8, 1906, entitled, "An Act for the Preservation of American Antiquities", do hereby set aside, as the Mukuntuweap National Monument, the Mukuntuweap canyon of the D¢=¤¤P¤¤¤- North Fork of the Rio Virgin, or Zion River, embracing Sections three, four, five, six, eight, nine, ten, fourteen, fifteen, sixteen, twenty- one, twenty-two, twenty-three, twenty-six, twenty-seven, twenty- eight, thirty-three and thirty-four, Township forty South, Range ten, and all of the said can on of the Rio Virgin, or Zion River, in ownship forty-one South, llange ten, all west of the Salt Lake Meridian, Utah, as shown upon the diagram hereto attached and made a part of this proclamation. mlgegéwfwm =¤¢¤¤- Warning is hereby expressly given to all unauthorized persons not ' to appropriate, injure or destroy any feature of this National Monument, or to locate or settle upon any of the lands reserved by this proclamation.
