BY Tum Pnnsrnrzrrr or rum Unrrnn S·rA·rns or Aunmoa Arfs¤Sf10,1910- A PROCLAMATION WHEREAS an Executive Order dated Jul first, nineteen hundred figs, N¤¤¤¤¤¤ FM- and_eight, directed that parts of the Pikes Peak and Medicine Bow aslireariible. National Forests should e known as the Pike National Forest; and

 it alppears that the apublic good will be romoted by

eliminating from the Pike Nation Forest certain landh within the · State of Colorado; · Now, therefore, I, William H. Taft, President of the United States Q,*g¤3<})i¤¤¤3*g¤¤· of America, by virtue of the power in me vested by the Act of Con- °' ’°' ' gress approved June fourth, eighteen hundred and ninety-seven, entitled ‘An Act Making appropriations for sundry civil expenses of the Government for the fiscal ear ending June thirtieth, eighteen hundred and ninety-ei%15; and fior other purposes/’ do proclaim that the boundaries of the e National Forest are hereby changed and that they are now as shown on the diagram forming a part hereof. This proclamation shall not prevent the settlement and entry of ¢,g*’g‘ft‘l}"2Q,_3**°**°· any lands heretofore opened to settlement and entry under the Act ' ` of Congress approved June eleventh, nineteen hundred and six, entitled "An Act to provide for the entry of Agricultural lands within forest reserves} The lands hereby eliminated from the Pike National Forest which P,}g&dgm'$°n$'“ *° are not embraced in withdrawals for administrative sites for use in the management of the Forest, or in any other reservation or appro- ‘ priation, shall be restored to the public domain and become su ject to settlement under the general provisions of the homestead laws on such date and after such notice by lpublication as the Secretary of the Interior may prescribe, but sha not become subject to entry, Elin , selection, or other form of aptprdpriation until the expiration of thirt days from the date so fixe , except that on the same date ` as the lands eliminated become subject to settlement, the State of Colorado may, if the lands eliminated are subject to such selection, h;3d¤r¤::g’m¤¤¤¤¤i select as indemnity in the satisfaction of its common school grant, °°°° ` not to exceed two sections of land in each entire township restored, or one section in each fractional portion of. a township where the restored area thereof exceeds five thousand (5,000) acres, and no person will be permitted to acquire or exercise any right whatever under an settlement or occupancy begun prior to such date, and all such settlement or occupation is hereby forbidden. It is not intended by this proclamation to release any land from A¤¤••¤'•¤¤<1- reservation except the areas indicated on the diagram as eliminated, nor to reserve an land not heretofore embraced in a National Forest.
