Canal Commission, the Interstate Commerce Commission, the Civil Service Commission, the Commissioners of the District of Columbia, the American National Red Cross the Commission of Fme Arts the Librarian of Coragress, the Public Ilrintcr, the Governor of Porto Rico the Governor 0 Alaska the Governor of Hawau, and the United States Geo aphic Board, shall determine, the nature, character, and extent of 5ie exhibits to be made and shall be_charged with the selection, purchase, reparation, safekeepomg, exhibition, and return of such articles and) materials as said ard mafy decide shall be °°°"·°“‘ exhibited. Before any obligations are incurred o any nature, said board shall have arranged the scope of such exhibits so as to provide for the collection, exhibition, and return of such articles and materials at a cost, which together with all other expenses herein authorized, °“°°”· shall not exceed the amount hereinafter appropriated. The President shall designate one member of said boar as chairman, and from persons in the employ of the United States Government may designate a secretary and a disbursin officer for said board, and ma also detail such other persons, incluchng officers of the Army and 1% avy, ,,,,‘Q’,,‘§""°° '°’ °" as he may deem necessary to assist said board. All officers and employees of the Government who may be detailed as aforesaid shall receive no compensation in addition to their regular salaries, but shall be allowed their actual and necessary travelm expenses, together with a per diem in lieu of subsistence, to be fixed by the Secretary of the Treasury, but in no case to exceed $5 per day while necessaril absent from their homes erlilgaged u on the business of the board? my: and Nvy ¤¤· Any officer of the Army or avy so d)etailed shall receive this allow- ' ance m lieu of the transportation and mileage now allowed him by D¤=•¤= v¤¤¤¤¤»¢· law. 'llhe disbursiug officer shall give bond m the sum of $30,000 for the faithful performance of his duties, said bond to be approved by the Secretary of the Treasury.

to time, under such regulations as the Secretary of the Treasu may prescribe, a sum of money from the appropriation herein madelzn the governmental participation in the exposition, not exceeding at any one time the penalg of his bond, to enable him to pay the expenses of exhibition as au onzed by the exhibit board.
