Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United 1,,,,,,,,, ,,,C,,l,,,,,,b,, States of America in Congress assembled, That there is hereby created W1g,¤gg;¤gg8g;mg* an executive department in the glpvernment of the District of Co- nn(1{1nré¤m.need.’ lumbia which shall be known as the Department of Weights, Measures, and Markets. Sec. 2. That the superintendent shall, before ente ¤· upon the B°‘*"““‘*°°“’· performance of his duties, give bond to the District olfufljiolumbia in the penal sum of $5,000, signed by two sureties or by a bonding company, to be approved by the commissioners, conditioned on the faithful discharge of the duties of his office, and shall take and subscribe zm oath or affirmation before the commissioners that he will faithfully and impartially discharge the duties of his office, which bond and oath shall be deposited with the commissioners. Src. 3. That the superintendent and, under his direction, his Pw¤=·=¤·¤—=¤·=¤· assistants and inspectors, shall have exclusive power to perform all the duties cprovided in this Act.
