Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That herea ter, imme- *2{,’(’}3;;mm,0, dm,] diately upon ofhcial notification of the death from wounds or dis- in service to include ease, not the result of his own misconduct, of any officer or enlisted $$1 ust °° °°m° man on the active list of the Regular Army or on the retir·ed list §g};§·g;},‘§; when on active duty, the Quartermastcr General of the Army shall ' cause to be paid to the widow, and if there be no widow to the child or children, and if there be no widow or child to an other de endent relative of such officer or enlisted man tpreviously dyesignated by him, an amount equal to six months’ pay at e rate received by such officer or enlisted man at the date of his death. The Secretary of War shall d_£§g¤tg${¤¤ °° N establish re lations requiring each officer and enlisted man having no wife or child to designate the proper dependent relative to whom this amount shall be paid in case of his death. Said amount shall be paid from funds appropriated for the pay of the Sec. 2. That nothing in this Act shall be constru as making the Bg“g§Y§‘,"j’,*}{$,y?“*’ ”° provisions of this Act applicable to officers or enlisted men 0 any orces or troops of the Army of the United States other than them of the Regular Army, and nothing in this Act shall be construed to apply in commissioned Series to any officers except those holding permanent or provision appointments in the Regular Army.
