CONTINGENT AND MISCELLANEOUS EXPENSES, °"“"‘“‘“"°"¥’“""· For printing, checks, books, law books, books of reference, peri- ““‘“‘p‘°‘°°"· odicals, stationery; surveying instruments and implements; drawing materials; binding, rebinding, repairing, and preservation of reeords; purchase of laboratory apparatus and equipment and maintenance of laboratory in the office of the inspector of asphalt and cement; damages; livery, purchase, and care of horses and can riages or buggies and bicycles not otherwise provided for; horse» shoeing; ice, repairs to pound and vehicles; use of bicycles by inspectors in the engineer department not to exceed $800 in the aggregate; and other general necesary expenses of District offices, inc uding the personal-tax board, harbor master} health department surveyors office, office of supermtendent of weights, measures, and * markets, department of insurance, and Board of Charities, including an allowance to the secretary of the Board of Charities, not exceeding -·* ' the rate of $20 per month, for the maintenance of an automobile to gi furnished by him and used in the discharge of his offical duties, 7.500. In all cases where the printm of ¤,]i,{°’°"°°l°°°‘°'l‘l' said reports is discontinued, the original copy thereof shall be gept » on file in the offices of the Commissioners of the District of Columbia for public inspection. For maintenance, care, and regair of automobiles, motor cycles, ,*{$',,};.*§*g‘,f’· and motor trucks owned by the istrict of Columbia, that are not » otherwise herein provided for, $30,000. For purchase of two new automobiles for use of the various de- m °"*"°°‘ partments of the government of the District of Columbia, and for the exchange of such automobiles now owned by the District of Columbia as, in the judgment of the commissioners of said District, have or shall become unserviceable, $4,000. All of said motor vehicles and all other motor vehicles provided m‘{;¤,Y¥ °¤°*°“ ** for in this Act and all horse-drawn carriages and buggies owned by the District of Columbia shall be used only_ for purpo% directly pertaining to the public services of said District, and shall be under the direction and control of the commissioners, who may from time to time alter or change the assignment for use thereof or direct the joint or interchangeable use o any of the same by officials and emloyees of the District, except as otherwise provided in this gromfded, That no automobile shall be acquired under any provision 1J&§•¤&“‘ of this Act, by purchase or exchange, at a cost, including the value
