PUBL IC PLA YGR OUN DS For personal services, $113,180 : Provide d, That employments hereunder, except directors who shall be employed for twelve months, shall be distributed as to duration in accordance with corresponding emp loyi nents prov ided for in th e Di stric t of Colu mbia Appro pria - tion Act for the fiscal year 1924 . For gene ral main tenance, equipmen t, suppl ies, inc idental a nd con- tin gent expe nses of p laygr ounds , in cludi ng la bor and m ainte nanc e of one motor truck, $25,000 ; for construction of physical improve- ments b day labor or otherwise in the discretion of the commis- sioners, $50,000 ; in all, $75,000 . For the maintenance and cont ingent expenses of keeping ope n during the summer months the public-school playgrounds, under the dir ection a nd superv ision of the com missione rs ; for spe cia l a nd t em- porary services, directors, assistants, and janitor service during the sum mer vaca tion, and , in the larger yards, d aily afte r school hours during the school term, $30,000 . For sup lies, repairs, maintenance, and necessary expenses of operating tree swimming pools, $3,000 . BATH NG POOLS : For superintendence, $600 ; for temporary serv- ices, supplies, and maintenance, $4,500 ; for repairs to buildings, poo ls, and upkeep of grounds , $1,780 ; in al l, $6, 88 0 : Provided, Th a t sec tion 6 o f the Leg islative , Execut ive, and Judicial Appropr iation Act, approved May 10, 1916 (39 Stat ., p . 120, sec . 6), as amended, shall not apply to the position of superintendent of these bathing pools during the fiscal year 1931 . ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT For personal services, $130,520 . For general supplies, repairs, new batteries and battery supplies, telephone rental and purchase, telephone service charges, wire and cable for extension of telegraph and telephone service, repairs of lines and instruments, purchase of poles, tools, insulators, brackets, pins, hardware, cross arms, ice, record book, stationery, livery, pur- chase and repair of bicycles, blacksmithing, extra labor, new boxes, maintenance of motor trucks, and other necessary items, $32,200. For placing wires of fire alarm, police patrol, and telephone serv- ices underground, extension and relocation of police-patrol and fire- alarm systems, purchase and installing additional lead-covered cables, labor, material, appurtenances, and other necessary equipment and expenses, including not to exceed $4,600, for replacement of obsolete fire-alarm boxes by new-type boxes, $29,000 . L IGnTiNG : For purchase, installation, and maintenance of public lamps, lamp-posts, street designations, lanterns, and fixtures of all kinds on streets, avenues, roads, alleys, and public spaces, part cost of maintenance of airport and airway lights necessary for operation 965 Gar bage reduc tion plan t.
