For such miscellaneous expenses as may be authorized or approved by the Attorney General, for the United States courts and their officers, including experts at such rates of compensation as may be authorized or approved by the Attorney General, including also so much as may be necessary in the discretion of the Attorney General for such expenses in the District of Alaska and in courts other than Federal courts, and including traveling expenses pur- suant to t he Subsistence Expense Act of 1926 (U . S . C ., ti tle 5, chap . 16), $950,000 . For supplies, including the exchange of typwriting and adding machines, for the United States courts and judicial officers, including firearms and ammunition therefor, to be expended under the direction of the Attorney General, $86,000. For the purchase of law books, including the exchange thereof, for United States judges, district attorneys, and other judicial of l- cers, including the libraries of the ten United States circuit courts of appeals, for the purchase of the Federal Reporter and continua- tions thereto as issued, to be expended under the direction of the Attorney General, $72,000 : Provided, That such books shall in all cases be transmitted to their successors in office ; all books purchased Clerks of courts, etc .
