CHAPTER 85

AN ACT For the relief of Wolodymyr Hirniak.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That, for the purposes of the Immigration and Nationality Act, Wolodymyr Hirniak shall be held and considered to have been lawfully admitted to the United States for permanent residence as of the date of the enactment of this Act, upon payment of the required visa fee: Provided, That a suitable and proper bond or undertaking, approved by the Attorney General, be deposited as prescribed by section 213 of the said Act. Upon the granting of permanent residence to such alien as provided for in this Act, the Secretary of State shall instruct the proper quotacontrol officer to deduct one number from the appropriate quota for the first year that such quota is available. CHAPTER 86 AN ACT

For the relief of Mrs. Louise Hlaekstone.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Treasury is authorized and directed to pay, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to Mrs. Louise Blackstone, (xreenwood, Mississippi, the sum of $1,481.85. The payment of such sum shall be in full settlement of all claims of the said Mrs. Louise Blackstone against the United States for payment of an amount M'hich is equal to the difference between the amount (based on pay and allowances of a private) which was paid on account of the active service with the United States Army which her brother by adoption, the late Scott W. Crull (Army service number 6970975), rendered during the period beginning December 1, 1941, and ending June 16, 1945, and the amount which would have been so paid if such amount liad been computed on the basis of the pay and allowances of a sergeant. The said Scott W. Crull was captured by the Japanese armed forces in the Philippine Islands, and died when a Japanese ship on which he was being transported was sunk. No part of the amount appropriated in this xVct in excess of 10 per centum thereof shall be paid or delivered to or received by any agent or attorney on account of services rendered in connection with this claim, and the same shall be unlawful, any contract to the contrary notwithstanding. Any person violating the provisions of this Act shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined in any sum not exceeding $1,000. Approved March 15, 1954.
