CHAPTER 146

AN ACT For the relief of P. F. Claveau, as successor to the firm of Rodj^er G. Ritchie Painting and Decorating Company.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Treasury be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to pay, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to P. F. Claveau, of Post Office Box 1958, Anchorage, Alaska, as successor to the firm of Rodger G. Ritchie Painting and Decorating Company, the sum of $3,841.45, in full settlement of all claims of the said P. F. Claveau and the said firm of Rodger G. Ritchie Painting and Decorating Company against the United States for additional compensation under the contract dated June 16, 1953 (numbered A F 65 (501)-369), between the United States and such firm for the exterior painting of thirteen buildings at Elmendorf Air Force Base, Anchorage, Alaska. Such claims are based on additional expenses incurred by the said P. F. Claveau and the said firm of Rodger G. Ritchie Painting and Decorating Company because of the extra work required of them in the performance of said contract as the result of conditions not set forth in the contract and specifications for such painting and which could not reasonably have been anticipated at the time the said contract was entered into: Provided, That no part of the amount appropriated in this Act in excess of 10 per centum thereof shall be paid or delivered to or received by any agent or attorney on account of services rendered in connection with this claim, and the same shall be unlawful, any contract to the contrary notwithstanding. Any person violating the provisions of this Act shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined in any sum not exceeding $1,000. Approved March 29, 1956.
