SEC. 2. Nothing contained in this Act shall be deemed to increase the retired or retirement pay received by the said Major General Hanford MacNider and no other benefits shall accrue to him by virtue of the enactment thereof. Approved August 7, 1956.

CHAPTER 1040

AN ACT Relating to intercorporate relations between the General Public Utilities Corporation, a corporation organized and operating in the United States, and the Manila Electric Company.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Cong7'ess ossembled, That no law of the United States shall be held to require, or to authorize any department or independent agency of the Government to require, the General Public Utilities Corporation, a corporation organized and operating in the United States, to divest itself of control of, or any interest in, the Manila Electric Company, which produces and distributes electricity in and around the city of Manila in the Republic of the Philippines. Approved August 9, 1956.
