506 (2) subscribe to the oath set forth in section 304 of title 32; and (3) be a member of a federally recognized unit or organization of the Air National Guard in the grade in which h^ is to be enlisted as a Reserve. (b) A member of the Air Force Reserve who enlists in the Air National Guard in his reserve grade, and is a member of a federally recognized unit or organization thereof, becomes a member of the »Air National Guard of the United States and ceases to be a member of the Air Force Reserve. §8262. Extension of enlistment for members needing medical care or hospitalization (a) An enlisted member of the Air Force on active duty whose term of enlistment expires while he is suffering from disease or injury incident to service and not due to his misconduct, and who needs medical care or hospitalization, may be retained en active duty, with his consent, until he recovers to the extent that he is able to meet the physical requirements for reenlistment, or it is determined that recovery to that extent is impossible. (b) This section does not prevent the retention in service, without his consent, of an enlisted member of the Air Force under section 8638 of this title.
