AN ACT Making appropriations for the government of the District of Columbia and other activities chargeable in whole or in part against the revenues of said District for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1959, and for other purposes.

FEDERAL PAYMENT TO DISTRICT O F COLUMBIA Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the cSmbi^^A^'^^ro- ^^*'^^<^ States of America in Congress assembled, That there are priation Act, 1959. appropriated for the District of Columbia for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1959, out of (1) the general fund of the District of Columbia (unless otherwise herein specifically provided), hereinafter known as the general fund, such fund being composed of the revenues of the District of Columbia other than those applied by law to special funds, and $20,000,000 which is hereby appropriated for the purpose out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated (to be advanced July 1, 1958, and of which $7,000,000 shall be available for capital outlay only), (2) the highway fund (when designated as payable therefrom), established by law ( D. C. Code, title47, ch. 19), and $431,600, which is hereby appropriated for the purpose out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated (to be advanced July 1, 1958), (3) the water fund (when designated as payable therefrom), established by law (D. C. Code, title 43, ch. 15), and $1,732,000, which is hereby appropriated for the purpose out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated (to be advanced July 1, 1958), (4) the sanitary sewage works fund (when designated as payable therefrom), established by law (Public Law 68 stat^ 104. ^^ 364, 83d Congress), and $697,000, which is hereby appropriated for 160*2. * ° * " the purpose out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated (to be advanced July 1, 1958), and (5) the motor vehicle parking fund (when designated as payable therefrom), established 56 Stat. 93. by law (D. C. Code, title 40, ch. 8), sums as shown herein; and there is hereby appropriated, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, $5,500,000, which, together with balances of previous appropriations for this purpose, shall remain available until expended, for loans authorized by the Act of May 18, 1954 (68 Stat. D* c*^*cide' 43- •*^^^)' *^ ^ advanced upon request of the Commissioners to the high1540. ' way fund. OPERATING EXPENSES For expenses necessary for the offices and agencies named under this general head: EXECUTIVE OFFICE

Executive office, plus so much as may be necessary to compensate the Engineer Commissioner at a rate equal to each civilian member of the Board of Commissioners of the District of Columbia, hereafter in this Act referred to as the Commissioners; compensation and expenses of members of the Apprenticeship Council and the Redevelopment Land Agency; aid in support of the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws; general advertising in newspapers (including the District of Columbia Register) and legal periodicals in the District of Columbia but not elsewhere, unless the need for advertising outside the District of Columbia shall have been specifically approved by the Commissioners, including notices of public hearings, publication of orders and regulations, tax and school notices, and notices of changes in regulations; expenses of Youth
