agencies of the Government for the performance of work for which this appropriation is made. International Boundary Commission, United States and Canada, the completion of such remaining work as may be required under the award of the Alaskan Boundary Tribunal and the existing treaties between the United States and Great Britain; commutation of subsistence to employees while on field duty, not to exceed $8 per day each (but not to exceed $5 per day each when a member of a field party and subsisting in c a m p); hire of freight and passenger motor vehicles from temporary field employees j and payment for timber necessarily cut in keeping the boundary line clear. COMMISSIONS

For expenses, not otherwise provided for, necessary to enable the Imited States to meet its obligations in connection with participation in international fisheries commissions pursuant to treaties or conventions, and implementing Acts of Congress, $2,025,000: Provided, That the United States share of such expenses may be advanced to the respective commissions. EDUCATIONAL EXCHANGE M U T U A L E D U C A T I O N A L AND CULTURAL EXCHANGE ACTIVITIES

For expenses, not otherwise provided for, necessary to enable the Secretary of State to carry out the functions of the Department of State under the provisions of the Mutual Educational and Cultural Exchange Act of 1961 (75 Stat. 527) and the Act of A u ^ s t 9, 1939 ^^22 USC 2451 note. (22 U.S.C. 501), including expenses authorized by the Foreign Service ""ss'Stat. 1290. 53 Act of 1946, as amended (22 U.S.C. 801-1158); expenses of the Nation- , /60 ^tat^ 999; o 74 Stat. 831. al Commission on Education, Scientific, and Cultural Cooperation as authorized by sections 3,5, and 6 of the Act of July 30, 1946 (22 U.S.C. 287o, 287q, 287r); hire of passenger motor vehicles; not to exceed 60 Stat. 713. $18,000 for representation expenses; not to exceed $1,000 for official entertainment within the United States; services as authorized by section 15 of the Act of August 2, 1946 (5 U.S.C. 55a); and advance of ^^ ^^^^- 8i°funds notwithstanding section 3648 of the Revised Statutes, as amended; $45,000,000, of which not less than $19,000,000 shall be used 31 USC 529. for payments in foreign currencies or credits owed to or owned by the Treasury of the United States '.Provided, That not to exceed $2,275,000 may be used for administrative expenses during the current fiscal year. To enable the Secretary of State to provide for carrying out the provisions of the Center for Cultural and Technical Interchange Between East and West Act of 1960, by grant to any appropriate agency ^ ^^^ ^^jof the State of Hawaii, $5,300,000: Provided, That none of the funds note. appropriated herein shall be used to pay any part of the salary, or to enter into any contract providing for the payment thereof, to any individual whose aggregate salary from any and all sources is in excess of $20,000 per annum.
