ADMINISTRATIVE PROVISIONS, FOREST SERVICE

Appropriations to the Forest Service for the current fiscal year shall be available for: (a) purchase of not to exceed two hundred and twelve passenger motor vehicles of which one hundred and eighty shall be for replacement only, and hire of such vehicles; operation and maintenance of aircraft and the purchase of not to exceed two for replacement only; (b) employment pursuant to the second sentence of section 706(a) of the Organic Act of 1944 (7 U.S.C. 2225), and not to ^^ Stat. 742. exceed $25,000 for employment under 5 U.S.C. 3109; (c) uniforms, ^° s*^*- ^^^• or allowances therefor, as authorized by law (5 U.S.C. 5901-5902); 8i^statr*206?^' (d) purchase, erection, and alteration of buildings and other public improvements (7 U.S.C. 2250); (e) expenses or the National Forest Reservation Commission as authorized by section 14 of the Act of March 1, 1911 (16 U.S.C. 514); and (f) acquisition of land and inter- ^e Stat. 963. ests therein for sites for administrative purposes, pursuant to the Act 70 Stat. 1034. of August 3, 1956 (7 U.S.C. 428a). Except to provide materials required in or incident to research or experimental work where no suitable domestic product is available, no part of the funds appropriated to the Forest Service shall be expended in the purchase of twine manufactured from commodities or materials produced outside of the United States. Funds appropriated under this Act shall not be used for acquisition of forest lands under the provisions of the Act approved March 1, 1911, as amended (16 U.S.C. 513-519, 521), where such land is not 36 Stat. 962. within the boundaries of an established national forest or purchase unit. For expenses made necessary by the Act establishing a Commission of Fine Arts (40 U.S.C. 104), including payment of actual traveling expenses of the members and secretary of the Commission in attending meetings and Committee meetings of the Commission either within or outside the District of Columbia, to be disbursed on vouchers approved by the Commission, $115,000.
