Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United Vacancies in States of America in Congress assembled, That the vacancies in the °l;;;°"‘gf °ft‘,; board of regents of the Smithsonian Institution of the class " other than gmithsoman rn- members of Congress," be filled by the reappointment of the late incum- “l°“*i°¤ mlm- bents, viz. : Richard Rush, of Pennsylvania, and Joseph G. Totten, of the city of Washington. (a) Approved, December 24, 1850. Feb. 27, 1851. [No. 2. ] --.6 Resolution directing the Distribution of the Works of Alexander ·*········· Hamilton, and for other Purposes. Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United Distribution States of America in Congress assembled, That the secretary of %gfu:,”é"ks °f the Senate and the clerk of the House of Representatives be, and rHam- . . . . . ilton. they hereby are, directed to distribute, by mail or otherwise, the works now being published by authority of Congress, known as the works of Alexander Hamilton, in the manner following, to wit: To the President of the United States, one copy; to the libraries of the different departments, of the Postmaster-General and the Attorney-General, one copy each; to each member of the present Senate and House of Representatives, one copy; to the office of the secretary of the Senate, tive copies; to the library of the House of Representatives, ten copies; to the library of Congress, six copies; to the libraries of the States and Territories of the Union, each one copy; to the Smithsonian Institution, one copy; to the Military Academy and the Naval School at Annapolis, each one copy; to the joint committee on the library for the purpose of international exchange, twelve copies; to Mrs. Eliza Hamilton, five copies; to such colleges and literary institutions as shall be designated by the present committee on the library, one hundred and twenty copies. Sale of undis- Sec. 2. And be it further resolved, That as the appropriation here- '·"ib“*°d °°P‘°s· tofore made for the editing and publication of said papers is inadequate, Im- °b· 166- the joint committee on the library be, and they hereby are, empowered to sell the undistributed residue of the copies of said work; and that the proceeds of such sale be applied by said committee, in aid of the said appropriation, to defray the expense of editing and publishing said works. Distribution Sec. 3. And be it further resolved, That the works of the late John X`d"°’k* °f ·l°h“ Adams, published and being published, for which the Congress of the 31115. . . . . · . 1850 ch' 9D_ United States have subscribed, be distributed in the same manner as is ' herein provided for the distribution of the works of the late Alexander Hamilton, except the live copies to Mrs. Eliza Hamilton.
