Public Law 97-171 97th Congress An Act To amend section 209 of title 18, United States Code, to permit an officer or employee of the United States Government, injured during an assassination attempt, to receive contributions from charitable organizations.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the U.S. United States of America in Congress assembled. That section 209 Government officer or of title 18, United States Code, is amended by adding a new subsec- employee injured during tion as follows: "(f) This section does not prohibit acceptance or receipt, by any an assassination attempt, officer or employee injured during the commission of an offense contributions. described in section 351 or 1751 of this title, of contributions or pa3anents from an organization which is described in section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954 and which is exempt 26 USC 501. from taxation under section 501(a) of such Code.".
