PUBLIC LAW 97-394—DEC. 30, 1982 and to provide, notwithstanding any other provision of law, at a cost not exceeding $100,000, transportation for children in nearby communities to and from any unit to the National Park System used in connection with organized recreation and interpretive programs of the National Park Service; and options for the purchase of land at not to exceed $1 for each option: Provided, That any funds available to the National Park Service may be used, with the approval of the Secretary, to maintain law and order in emergency and other unforeseen law enforcement situations and conduct emergency search and rescue operations in the National Park System; and to provide insurance on official motor vehicles and aircraft operated by the National Park Service in Mexico and Canada: Provided further. That none of the funds appropriated to the National Park Service may be used to process any grant or contract documents which do not include the text of 18 U.S.C. 1913: Provided further. That none of the funds appropriated to the National Park Service may be used to add industrial facilities to the list of National Historic Landmarks without the consent of the owner: Provided further, That notwithstanding any other provision of law, the Secretary of the Interior is authorized to enter into a cooperative agreement with the Smith River Fire Protection District, California, for a special use permit on lands within the boundary of Redwood National Park to permit construction of a fire station. ENERGY AND MINERALS GEOLOGICAL SURVEY SURVEYS, INVESTIGATIONS, AND RESEARCH (INCLUDING TRANSFER OF FUNDS)

For expenses necessary for the Geological Survey to perform surveys, investigations, and research covering topography, geology, and the mineral and water resources of the United States, its Territories and possessions, and other areas as authorized by law (43 U.S.C. 31, 1332 and 1340); classify lands as to mineral character and water and power resources; give engineering supervision to power permittees and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission licensees; administer the minerals exploration program (30 U.S.C. 641); and publish and disseminate data relative to the foregoing activities; $363,389,000 and $16,200,000, to be derived by transfer from "Exploration of National Petroleum Reserve in Alaska": Provided, That $44,164,000 shall be available only for cooperation with States or municipalities for water resources investigations: Provided further, That no part of this appropriation shall be used to pay more than one-half the cost of any topographic mapping or water resources investigations carried on in cooperation with any State or municipality: Provided further. That the Geological Survey is authorized to accept lands, buildings, equipment, and other contributions from public and private sources and to prosecute projects in cooperation with other agencies, Federal, State, or private.
