Public Law 98-90 98th Congress An Act To amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to increase the cap amount allowable for reimbursement of hospices under the medicare program. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled. That section 1814(i)(2) of the Social Security Act is amended— (1) by striking out "located in a region (as defined by the Secretary)" and "for the region" in subparagraph (A), and (2) by amending subparagraph (B) to read as follows: "(B) For purposes of subparagraph (A), the 'cap amount' for a year is $6,500, increased or decreased, for accounting years that end after October 1, 1984, by the same percentage as the percentage increase or decrease, respectively, in the medical care expenditure category of the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (United States city average), published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, from March 1984 to the fifth month of the accounting year.".
