PUBLIC LAW 99-20—APR. 14, 1985 Public Law 99-20 99th Congress Joint Resolution

Apr. 14, 1985 [H.J. Res. 74]

To designate the week of September 8, 1985, as "National Independent Retail Grocer Week".

Whereas the independent retailer has served the American consumer for over two hundred years; Whereas independent retail grocers account for 64 per centum of all grocery stores in the United States and are responsible for nearly one-half of the grocery product distributed; Whereas the independent retail grocer exemplifies the small business entrepreneur, the back bone of the American free enterprise system; and Whereas the independent retail grocer offers a wide array of services to the community where he lives and does business: Now, therefore, be it Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That September 8 through 14, 1985, be proclaimed "National Independent Retail Grocer Week". Approved April 14, 1985.
