Doctors of the Church

Doctor of the Church is a title given by a variety of Christian churches to individuals whose writings are of particular importance, particularly regarding their contribution to theology or doctrine. Martyrs are often excluded from the list regardless of the importance of their written works. In the Anglican Communion, the title of Teacher of the Faith is occasionally used.
