[edit] Speeches guidelines
The purpose of this Speeches portal is to provide one point for the adding, editing, attribution and organisation of our collection of English language speeches. To keep our collection consistent there is a standard format for the layout of new speeches. This is:
- {{header}} - The header template shown below should be applied:
{{indexes|Speeches}}
{{header
| previous =
| next =
| title =
| section =
| author =
| notes =
}}
- Header parameters:
- Title should include the title of the speech.
- Author should include the name of the author. It isn't necessary to wikify this.
- Notes should include a brief introduction - This should be in italics and should specify who gave the speech (including any distinguishing letters like MP), their position (EG USA President, British Prime Minister), the topic of the speech, where and when it was given, and if necessary a brief explanation (or wikipedia link) if the topic of the speech is obscure or little known internationally.
- The speech itself.
- Any categories which this speech should be in. A full list is available at Category:Speeches or on the main portal page.
When adding speeches the same guidelines should be followed as with any other document.
