| Proclamation by Honorable William J Dodd, Lieutenant Governor and Acting Governor of the State of Louisiana, dated September 7, 1950 convening the Legislature of Louisiana in extraordinary session
By virtue of the authority vested in me by Section 14 of Article V of the Constitution of Louisiana, 1, William J. Dodd, Lieutenant Governor and Acting Governor of Louisiana, in the absence from the State of Honorable Earl K. Long, do hereby convene the Legislature of Louisiana in Extraordinary Session at the State Capitol, in the City of Baton Rouge, for a period not to exceed one (1) day, beginning at 6:30 o’clock p.m., on Tuesday, September 12, 1950, and ending not later than 12:00 o’clock midnight on the 12th day of September, A. D., 1950, and I do hereby specially enumerate the following objects to be considered and acted upon at the said extraordinary Session, to-wit:
1. to suspend Act No. 25 of the Regular Session of 1950, approved June 28, 1950, entitled ‘An Act providing for the submission to the people of a proposition to hold a convention at a designated time and place for the purpose of framing and putting into effect a new constitution; providing for the holding of such a convention in the event a majority of the votes cast at the election at which said proposition is submitted be in favor thereof; to fix the powers of said convention; to prescribe the number of delegates, the mode of their selection and their qualifications and compensation; and to provide penalties for fraudulent voting or false or fraudulent returns on said election”, and Act No. 2 of the Second Extraordinary Session of 1950, approved August 10, 1950, amending the same.
