Proclamation
on Appointment of the Regent[1]

Bhumibol Adulyadej, Rex.
His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej is graciously pleased to proclaim that:
Whereas His Majesty desires to enter the monkhood this October, BE 2499 (1956); whereas He finds expedient to appoint a Regent pursuant to the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand; and whereas He entertains an opinion that Queen Sirikit is capable of undertaking such duty;
Be it commanded by the King’s most Excellent Majesty, in virtue of section 17 of the Amendment to the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand, Buddhist Era 2475 (1932), Buddhist Era 2494 (1954), and with the approval of the House of Representatives, that Queen Sirkit shall hereby assume Regency during His Majesty’s monkhood.
Done this 18th Day of September, Buddhist Era 2499 (1956), being the 11th Year of the Present Reign.
