| In the name of God, the Almighty, the Most Merciful. | Bismi Allahi alrrahmani alrraheemi | |
| 037:001 | By the columns in formation. | Waalssaffati saffan |
| 037:002 | By the drivers of clouds. | Faalzzajirati zajran |
| 037:003 | By the remembrance which follows. | Faalttaliyati thikran |
| 037:004 | Your god is indeed One. | Inna ilahakum lawahidun |
| 037:005 | The Lord of the heavens and the Earth, and what lies between them, and Lord of the easts. | Rabbu alssamawati waal-ardi wama baynahuma warabbu almashariqi |
| 037:006 | We have adorned this universe with the decoration of planets. | Inna zayyanna alssamaa alddunya bizeenatin alkawakibi |
| 037:007 | And to guard against every rebellious devil. | Wahifthan min kulli shaytanin maridin |
| 037:008 | They cannot listen to the command up high; and they are bombarded from every side. | La yassammaAAoona ila almala-i al-aAAla wayuqthafoona min kulli janibin |
| 037:009 | Outcasts; they will have an eternal retribution. | Duhooran walahum AAathabun wasibun |
| 037:010 | Any of them who snatches something away, he is pursued by a piercing flame. | Illa man khatifa alkhatfata faatbaAAahu shihabun thaqibun |
| 037:011 | So ask them: "Are they the more powerful creation, or the others We created?" We have created them from sticky mud. | Faistaftihim ahum ashaddu khalqan am man khalaqna inna khalaqnahum min teenin lazibin |
| 037:012 | While you were awed, they simply mocked. | Bal AAajibta wayaskharoona |
| 037:013 | And when they are reminded, they do not care. | Wa-itha thukkiroo la yathkuroona |
| 037:014 | And when they see a sign, they make fun of it. | Wa-itha raaw ayatan yastaskhiroona |
| 037:015 | And they said: "This is nothing but evident magic!" | Waqaloo in hatha illa sihrun mubeenun |
| 037:016 | "Can it be that after we die and become dust and bones, that we are resurrected?" | A-itha mitna wakunna turaban waAAithaman a-inna lamabAAoothoona |
| 037:017 | "What about our fathers of old?" | Awa abaona al-awwaloona |
| 037:018 | Say: "Yes, and then you will be humiliated." | Qul naAAam waantum dakhiroona |
| 037:019 | All it takes is one sound, then they will be staring. | Fa-innama hiya zajratun wahidatun fa-itha hum yanthuroona |
| 037:020 | And they said: "Woe to us, this is the Day of Judgment!" | Waqaloo ya waylana hatha yawmu alddeeni |
| 037:021 | This is the Day of decisiveness that you used to deny. | Hatha yawmu alfasli allathee kuntum bihi tukaththiboona |

| 037:022 | Gather the transgressors, and their mates, and all they worshiped. | Ohshuroo allatheena thalamoo waazwajahum wama kanoo yaAAbudoona |
| 037:023 | Beside God, and guide them to the path of Hell. | Min dooni Allahi faihdoohum ila sirati aljaheemi |
| 037:024 | And let them stand and be questioned: | Waqifoohum innahum masooloona |
| 037:025 | "Why do you not support one another?" | Ma lakum la tanasaroona |
| 037:026 | No, for today they have totally given up. | Bal humu alyawma mustaslimoona |
| 037:027 | And some of them came to each other, questioning. | Waaqbala baAAduhum AAala baAAdin yatasaaloona |
| 037:028 | They said: "You used to entice us from the right side." | Qaloo innakum kuntum ta/toonana AAani alyameeni |
| 037:029 | They replied: "No, it was you who were not believers." | Qaloo bal lam takoonoo mu/mineena |
| 037:030 | "And we never had any power over you, but you were a wicked people." | Wama kana lana AAalaykum min sultanin bal kuntum qawman tagheena |
| 037:031 | "So our Lord's decree is now upon us, that we will suffer." | Fahaqqa AAalayna qawlu rabbina inna latha-iqoona |
| 037:032 | "We misled you, because we were astray." | Faaghwaynakum inna kunna ghaweena |
| 037:033 | Then, on that Day they will all share in the retribution. | Fa-innahum yawma-ithin fee alAAathabi mushtarikoona |
| 037:034 | This is how We deal with the criminals. | Inna kathalika nafAAalu bialmujrimeena |
| 037:035 | When it was said to them: "There is no god except God," they would be arrogant. | Innahum kanoo itha qeela lahum la ilaha illa Allahu yastakbiroona |
| 037:036 | And they would Say: "Shall we leave our gods because of a crazy poet?" | Wayaqooloona a-inna latarikoo alihatina lishaAAirin majnoonin |
| 037:037 | No, he has come with the truth and he has confirmed the messengers. | Bal jaa bialhaqqi wasaddaqa almursaleena |
| 037:038 | You will taste the greatest of retribution. | Innakum latha-iqoo alAAathabi al-aleemi |
| 037:039 | And you are only recompensed for what you have done. | Wama tujzawna illa ma kuntum taAAmaloona |
| 037:040 | Except for God's servants who are faithful. | Illa AAibada Allahi almukhlaseena |
| 037:041 | For them will be known provisions. | Ola-ika lahum rizqun maAAloomun |
| 037:042 | Fruits, and they will be honoured. | Fawakihu wahum mukramoona |
| 037:043 | In the gardens of bliss. | Fee jannati alnnaAAeemi |
| 037:044 | On furnishings which are opposite one another. | AAala sururin mutaqabileena |
| 037:045 | They will be served with cups of pure drinks. | Yutafu AAalayhim bika/sin min maAAeenin |
| 037:046 | Clear and tasty for the drinkers. | Baydaa laththatin lilshsharibeena |
| 037:047 | There is no bitterness therein, nor will they tire from it. | La feeha ghawlun wala hum AAanha yunzafoona |
| 037:048 | And with them are attendants with wide eyes and a splendid look. | WaAAindahum qasiratu alttarfi AAeenun |
| 037:049 | They are like fragile eggs. | Kaannahunna baydun maknoonun |
| 037:050 | So then they approached one another, questioning. | Faaqbala baAAduhum AAala baAAdin yatasaaloona |
| 037:051 | One of them said: "I used to have a friend." | Qala qa-ilun minhum innee kana lee qareenun |
| 037:052 | "Who use to Say: "Are you among those who believe in this?" | Yaqoolu a-innaka lamina almusaddiqeena |
| 037:053 | "That if we die and turn into dust and bones, that we would be called to account?"" | A-itha mitna wakunna turaban waAAithaman a-inna lamadeenoona |
| 037:054 | He said: "Can anyone find him?" | Qala hal antum muttaliAAoona |
| 037:055 | So when he looked, he saw him in the midst of Hell. | FaittalaAAa faraahu fee sawa-i aljaheemi |
| 037:056 | He said: "By God, you nearly ruined me!" | Qala taAllahi in kidta laturdeeni |
| 037:057 | "And had it not been for my Lord's blessing, I would have been with you." | Walawla niAAmatu rabbee lakuntu mina almuhdareena |
| 037:058 | "Are we then not going to die," | Afama nahnu bimayyiteena |
| 037:059 | "Except for our first death, and we will not be punished?" | Illa mawtatana al-oola wama nahnu bimuAAaththabeena |
| 037:060 | Such is the greatest triumph. | Inna hatha lahuwa alfawzu alAAatheemu |
| 037:061 | For this let those who will strive work. | Limithli hatha falyaAAmali alAAamiloona |
| 037:062 | Is that a better destination, or the tree of Bitterness? | Athalika khayrun nuzulan am shajaratu alzzaqqoomi |
| 037:063 | We have made it a punishment for the transgressors. | Inna jaAAalnaha fitnatan lilththalimeena |
| 037:064 | It is a tree that grows in the midst of Hell. | Innaha shajaratun takhruju fee asli aljaheemi |
| 037:065 | Its shoots are like the devils' heads. | TalAAuha kaannahu ruoosu alshshayateeni |
| 037:066 | They will eat from it, so that their bellies are filled up. | Fa-innahum laakiloona minha famali-oona minha albutoona |
| 037:067 | Then they will have with it a drink of boiling liquid. | Thumma inna lahum AAalayha lashawban min hameemin |
| 037:068 | Then they will be returned to Hell. | Thumma inna marjiAAahum la-ila aljaheemi |
| 037:069 | They had found their parents astray. | Innahum alfaw abaahum dalleena |
| 037:070 | So they too have hastened in their footsteps. | Fahum AAala atharihim yuhraAAoona |
| 037:071 | Most of the previous generations have strayed before them. | Walaqad dalla qablahum aktharu al-awwaleena |
| 037:072 | And We had sent to them warners. | Walaqad arsalna feehim munthireena |
| 037:073 | Thus note the consequences for those who were warned. | Faonthur kayfa kana AAaqibatu almunthareena |
| 037:074 | Except for God's servants who are faithful. | Illa AAibada Allahi almukhlaseena |

| 037:075 | And Noah had called upon Us, for We are the best to respond. | Walaqad nadana noohun falaniAAma almujeeboona |
| 037:076 | And We saved him and his family from the great disaster. | Wanajjaynahu waahlahu mina alkarbi alAAatheemi |
| 037:077 | And We made his progeny the one that remained. | WajaAAalna thurriyyatahu humu albaqeena |
| 037:078 | And We kept his history for those who came later. | Watarakna AAalayhi fee al-akhireena |
| 037:079 | Peace be upon Noah among the worlds. | Salamun AAala noohin fee alAAalameena |
| 037:080 | It is such that We reward the righteous. | Inna kathalika najzee almuhsineena |
| 037:081 | He is of Our believing servants. | Innahu min AAibadina almu/mineena |
| 037:082 | Then We drowned the others. | Thumma aghraqna al-akhareena |
| 037:083 | And from among his descendants was Abraham. | Wa-inna min sheeAAatihi la-ibraheema |
| 037:084 | For he came to his Lord with a pure heart. | Ith jaa rabbahu biqalbin saleemin |
| 037:085 | When he said to his father and his people: "What are you worshiping?" | Ith qala li-abeehi waqawmihi matha taAAbudoona |
| 037:086 | "Is it fabricated gods, instead of God, that you want?" | A-ifkan alihatan doona Allahi tureedoona |
| 037:087 | "What do you say of the Lord of the worlds?" | Fama thannukum birabbi alAAalameena |
| 037:088 | Then he looked towards the stars. | Fanathara nathratan fee alnnujoomi |
| 037:089 | And he said: "I am ill!" | Faqala innee saqeemun |
| 037:090 | So they turned away from him and departed. | Fatawallaw AAanhu mudbireena |
| 037:091 | He then went to their idols and said: "Can you not eat?" | Faragha ila alihatihim faqala ala ta/kuloona |
| 037:092 | "What is the matter, you do not speak?" | Ma lakum la tantiqoona |
| 037:093 | So he then turned on them, striking with his hand. | Faragha AAalayhim darban bialyameeni |
| 037:094 | Then they approached him outraged. | Faaqbaloo ilayhi yaziffoona |
| 037:095 | He said: "Do you worship what you carve?" | Qala ataAAbudoona ma tanhitoona |
| 037:096 | "While God has created you, and all that you make!" | WaAllahu khalaqakum wama taAAmaloona |
| 037:097 | They said: "Build for him a structure, and then throw him into its fire." | Qaloo ibnoo lahu bunyanan faalqoohu fee aljaheemi |
| 037:098 | So they wanted to harm him, but We made them the losers. | Faaradoo bihi kaydan fajaAAalnahumu al-asfaleena |
| 037:099 | And he said: "I am going to my Lord; He will guide me." | Waqala innee thahibun ila rabbee sayahdeeni |
| 037:100 | "My Lord, grant me from among the righteous." | Rabbi hab lee mina alssaliheena |
| 037:101 | So We gave him good news of a compassionate child. | Fabashsharnahu bighulamin haleemin |
| 037:102 | And when he grew enough to work with him, he said: "My son, I am seeing in a dream that I am sacrificing you. What do you think?" He said: "O my father, do what you are commanded to do. You will find me, God willing, patient." | Falamma balagha maAAahu alssaAAya qala ya bunayya innee ara fee almanami annee athbahuka faonthur matha tara qala ya abati ifAAal ma tu/maru satajidunee in shaa Allahu mina alssabireena |
| 037:103 | So when they both had surrendered, and he put his forehead down. | Falamma aslama watallahu liljabeeni |
| 037:104 | And We called him: "O Abraham," | Wanadaynahu an ya ibraheemu |
| 037:105 | "You have believed the vision." It was such that We rewarded the righteous. | Qad saddaqta alrru/ya inna kathalika najzee almuhsineena |
| 037:106 | Surely, this was an exacting test. | Inna hatha lahuwa albalao almubeenu |
| 037:107 | And We ransomed him with a great animal sacrifice. | Wafadaynahu bithibhin AAatheemin |
| 037:108 | And We kept his history for those who came later. | Watarakna AAalayhi fee al-akhireena |
| 037:109 | Peace be upon Abraham. | Salamun AAala ibraheema |
| 037:110 | It is thus that We reward the righteous. | Kathalika najzee almuhsineena |
| 037:111 | He was of Our believing servants. | Innahu min AAibadina almu/mineena |
| 037:112 | And We gave him the good news of the coming of Isaac, a prophet from among the righteous. | Wabashsharnahu bi-ishaqa nabiyyan mina alssaliheena |
| 037:113 | And We blessed him and Isaac. And from among their progeny, some are righteous, and some are clearly wicked. | Wabarakna AAalayhi waAAala ishaqa wamin thurriyyatihima muhsinun wathalimun linafsihi mubeenun |

| 037:114 | And indeed, We have given Our grace to Moses and Aaron. | Walaqad mananna AAala moosa waharoona |
| 037:115 | And We saved them and their people from the great disaster. | Wanajjaynahuma waqawmahuma mina alkarbi alAAatheemi |
| 037:116 | And We supported them, so that they became the winners. | Wanasarnahum fakanoo humu alghalibeena |
| 037:117 | And We gave both the clear Scripture. | Waataynahuma alkitaba almustabeena |
| 037:118 | And We guided them to the straight path. | Wahadaynahuma alssirata almustaqeema |
| 037:119 | And We kept their history for those who came later. | Watarakna AAalayhima fee al-akhireena |
| 037:120 | Peace be upon Moses and Aaron. | Salamun AAala moosa waharoona |
| 037:121 | We thus reward the righteous. | Inna kathalika najzee almuhsineena |
| 037:122 | Both of them were among Our believing servants. | Innahuma min AAibadina almu/mineena |
| 037:123 | And Elias was one of the messengers. | Wa-inna ilyasa lamina almursaleena |
| 037:124 | When he said to his people: "Would you not be righteous?" | Ith qala liqawmihi ala tattaqoona |
| 037:125 | "Would you call on Ba'al and forsake the best Creator?" | AtadAAoona baAAlan watatharoona ahsana alkhaliqeena |
| 037:126 | "God is your Lord, and the Lord of your fathers of old!" | Allaha rabbakum warabba aba-ikumu al-awwaleena |
| 037:127 | But they denied him. Thus they were called to account. | Fakaththaboohu fa-innahum lamuhdaroona |
| 037:128 | Except for God's devoted servants. | Illa AAibada Allahi almukhlaseena |
| 037:129 | And We kept his history for those who came later. | Watarakna AAalayhi fee al-akhireena |
| 037:130 | Peace be upon the family of Elias. | Salamun AAala il yaseena |
| 037:131 | We thus reward the righteous. | Inna kathalika najzee almuhsineena |
| 037:132 | He was one of our believing servants. | Innahu min AAibadina almu/mineena |
| 037:133 | And Lot was one of the messengers. | Wa-inna lootan lamina almursaleena |
| 037:134 | When We saved him and all his family. | Ith najjaynahu waahlahu ajmaAAeena |
| 037:135 | Except an old woman who remained. | Illa AAajoozan fee alghabireena |
| 037:136 | Then, We destroyed the rest. | Thumma dammarna al-akhareena |
| 037:137 | And you pass by their ruins in the morning; | Wa-innakum latamurroona AAalayhim musbiheena |
| 037:138 | And in the night. Do you not understand? | Wabiallayli afala taAAqiloona |

| 037:139 | And Jonah was one of the messengers. | Wa-inna yoonusa lamina almursaleena |
| 037:140 | When he escaped to the charged ship. | Ith abaqa ila alfulki almashhooni |
| 037:141 | And he was guilty, so he became among the losers. | Fasahama fakana mina almudhadeena |
| 037:142 | Thus a whale swallowed him, and he was the one to blame. | Failtaqamahu alhootu wahuwa muleemun |
| 037:143 | And had it not been that he was one of those who implored, | Falawla annahu kana mina almusabbiheena |
| 037:144 | He would have stayed in its belly until the Day of Resurrection. | Lalabitha fee batnihi ila yawmi yubAAathoona |
| 037:145 | So We threw him on the shore while he was sick. | Fanabathnahu bialAAara-i wahuwa saqeemun |
| 037:146 | And We caused seaweed to grow on him. | Waanbatna AAalayhi shajaratan min yaqteenin |
| 037:147 | And We sent him to a hundred thousand, or more. | Waarsalnahu ila mi-ati alfin aw yazeedoona |
| 037:148 | And they believed, so We gave them enjoyment for a time. | Faamanoo famattaAAnahum ila heenin |
| 037:149 | So ask them: "Are the daughters for your Lord, while the sons are for them?" | Faistaftihim alirabbika albanatu walahumu albanoona |
| 037:150 | Or did We create the Angels as females while they witnessed? | Am khalaqna almala-ikata inathan wahum shahidoona |
| 037:151 | Indeed, it is out of their falsehood that they Say: | Ala innahum min ifkihim layaqooloona |
| 037:152 | "The son of God." And they are liars. | Walada Allahu wa-innahum lakathiboona |
| 037:153 | Has He chosen the daughters over the sons? | Astafa albanati AAala albaneena |
| 037:154 | What is wrong with you, how do you judge? | Ma lakum kayfa tahkumoona |
| 037:155 | Will you not remember? | Afala tathakkaroona |
| 037:156 | Or do you have a clear proof? | Am lakum sultanun mubeenun |
| 037:157 | Bring forth your scripture, if you are truthful. | Fa/too bikitabikum in kuntum sadiqeena |
| 037:158 | And they invented a kinship between Him and the Jinn. But the Jinn know that they will be gathered. | WajaAAaloo baynahu wabayna aljinnati nasaban walaqad AAalimati aljinnatu innahum lamuhdaroona |
| 037:159 | God be glorified from what they describe. | Subhana Allahi AAamma yasifoona |
| 037:160 | Except for God's servants who are faithful. | Illa AAibada Allahi almukhlaseena |
| 037:161 | As for you and what you worship. | Fa-innakum wama taAAbudoona |
| 037:162 | You cannot lead away from Him. | Ma antum AAalayhi bifatineena |
| 037:163 | Except those who are destined to Hell. | Illa man huwa sali aljaheemi |
| 037:164 | Every one of us has a destined place. | Wama minna illa lahu maqamun maAAloomun |
| 037:165 | And we are the ones who are in columns. | Wa-inna lanahnu alssaffoona |
| 037:166 | And we are the ones that glorify. | Wa-inna lanahnu almusabbihoona |
| 037:167 | And they used to Say: | Wa-in kanoo layaqooloona |
| 037:168 | "If only we had received a reminder from the previous generations," | Law anna AAindana thikran mina al-awwaleena |
| 037:169 | "We would have surely been God's loyal servants." | Lakunna AAibada Allahi almukhlaseena |
| 037:170 | But they rejected it. They will come to know. | Fakafaroo bihi fasawfa yaAAlamoona |
| 037:171 | Our word had been decreed to Our servants who were sent. | Walaqad sabaqat kalimatuna liAAibadina almursaleena |
| 037:172 | That they would be made victorious. | Innahum lahumu almansooroona |
| 037:173 | And that Our soldiers are the winners. | Wa-inna jundana lahumu alghaliboona |
| 037:174 | So turn away from them for awhile. | Fatawalla AAanhum hatta heenin |
| 037:175 | And observe them; for they will see. | Waabsirhum fasawfa yubsiroona |
| 037:176 | Do they seek to hasten Our retribution? | AfabiAAathabina yastaAAjiloona |
| 037:177 | Then, when it descends into their courtyard, evil will be the morning, for they have already been warned. | Fa-itha nazala bisahatihim fasaa sabahu almunthareena |
| 037:178 | And turn away from them for awhile. | Watawalla AAanhum hatta heenin |
| 037:179 | And observe; for they will see. | Waabsir fasawfa yubsiroona |
| 037:180 | Glory be to your Lord, the Lord of greatness, for what they have described. | Subhana rabbika rabbi alAAizzati AAamma yasifoona |
| 037:181 | And peace be upon the messengers. | Wasalamun AAala almursaleena |
| 037:182 | And praise be to God, Lord of the worlds. | Waalhamdu lillahi rabbi alAAalameena |
