| In the name of God, the Almighty, the Most Merciful. | Bismi Allahi alrrahmani alrraheemi | |
| 085:001 | By the universe laden with towers. | Waalssama-i thati alburooji |
| 085:002 | And the appointed Day. | Waalyawmi almawAAoodi |
| 085:003 | And a witness and a witnessed. | Washahidin wamashhoodin |
| 085:004 | Dead are the people of the canyon. | Qutila as-habu alukhdoodi |
| 085:005 | The Fire supplied with fuel. | Alnnari thati alwaqoodi |
| 085:006 | They will be placed in it. | Ith hum AAalayha quAAoodun |
| 085:007 | And they were witness to what they did to the believers. | Wahum AAala ma yafAAaloona bialmu/mineena shuhoodun |
| 085:008 | And all they had asked them was to believe in God, the Noble, the Praiseworthy! | Wama naqamoo minhum illa an yu/minoo biAllahi alAAazeezi alhameedi |
| 085:009 | The One to whom belongs kingship of heavens and Earth, and God is witness over everything. | Allathee lahu mulku alssamawati waal-ardi waAllahu AAala kulli shay-in shaheedun |
| 085:010 | Those who have put the believing men and women under ordeal, and then did not repent, they will have the retribution of Hell, and they will have the retribution of burning. | Inna allatheena fatanoo almu/mineena waalmu/minati thumma lam yatooboo falahum AAathabu jahannama walahum AAathabu alhareeqi |
| 085:011 | Those who believe and do good works, they will have gardens with rivers flowing beneath. Such is the great reward. | Inna allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati lahum jannatun tajree min tahtiha al-anharu thalika alfawzu alkabeeru |
| 085:012 | The punishment of your Lord is severe. | Inna batsha rabbika lashadeedun |
| 085:013 | It is He who initiates and then returns. | Innahu huwa yubdi-o wayuAAeedu |
| 085:014 | And He is the Forgiver, the Most Kind. | Wahuwa alghafooru alwadoodu |
| 085:015 | Possessor of the throne, the Glorious. | Thoo alAAarshi almajeedi |
| 085:016 | Doer of what He wills. | FaAAAAalun lima yureedu |
| 085:017 | Has news come to you of the soldiers? | Hal ataka hadeethu aljunoodi |
| 085:018 | Pharaoh and Thamud? | FirAAawna wathamooda |
| 085:019 | No, those who rejected are in denial. | Bali allatheena kafaroo fee taktheebin |
| 085:020 | And God after them is encompassing. | WaAllahu min wara-ihim muheetun |
| 085:021 | No, it is a glorious Quran. | Bal huwa qur-anun majeedun |
| 085:022 | In a tablet, preserved. | Fee lawhin mahfoothin |
