Royal Decree

Dissolving the House of Representatives,

BE 2556 (2013)

Bhumibol Adulyadej, R.

Given under Our Hand this 9th Day of December, BE 2556 (2013)

Being the 68th Year of Our Reign.

Phra Bat Somdet Phra Paraminthra Maha Bhumibol Adulyadej is graciously pleased to proclaim that:

Whereas the Prime Minister informed Us that after taking charge of public administration in 2011, the Government has made a determined effort to reinforce the equality of the people throughout the Nation and has additionally undertaken various policies and measures as addressed to the National Assembly, which cover both the agricultural sectors and the industrial economic sectors, and the Government has also enhanced the life qualities of the people by increasing the domestic purchasing powers and bringing the quality balance and strength to the macroeconomic system in response to the international economic deceleration, and has expeditiously improved the relationships and developed the cooperation with neighbouring countries and many other states;

The Government has placed importance upon the extensive public participation in political reforms, but the conflict and discord amongst the national people have come to pass and are affecting public administration and national reputation, whilst the attempts of the Government to ease those problems up through peaceful resolutions, legal processes and constitutional methods were in vain; it is therefore desirable to dissolve the House of Representatives and organise a general election of the new Members thereof, for the purpose of returning the power of political determination to the people as a whole and continuously maintaining the democratic regime of government with the King as Head of State;

Be it decreed by the King's most Excellent Majesty, by virtue of sections 108 and 187 of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand, as follows:

§ 1

This Royal Decree shall be cited as the "Royal Decree Dissolving the House of Representatives, BE 2556 (2013)".

§ 2

This Royal Decree shall come into force upon its publication in the Government Gazette.[1]

§ 3

§ 5

The Prime Minister and the President of the Election Commission shall be in charge of this Royal Decree.

Countersigned.
Yingluck Shinawatra,
Prime Minister.
