Scribner's Magazine
Scribner's was the name of two magazines produced by the publishing house of Charles Scribner's Sons. The first, known as Scribner's Monthly, began publication in 1870, merging with the second incarnation of Putnam's Magazine. It was printed until 1881, when it was replaced by The Century Magazine. The second, known simply as Scribner's Magazine was first published in January, 1887, at a cost of $500,000, to compete with Atlantic Monthly and Harper's Monthly.
