SHADOWS.

A zephyr moves the maple-trees,
And straightway o'er the grass
The shadows of their branches shift
Shift, Love, but do not pass.

So, though with time a change may come,
Within my steadfast heart
The shadow of thy form may stir,
But cannot, Love, depart.
