Gadgets

Below is a list of special gadgets users can enable on their preferences page, as defined by the definitions. This overview provides easy access to the system message pages that define each gadget's description and code.

Editing tools

• Preload useful templates such as header, textinfo and author in respective namespaces.  (Export)

• easily add / remove / change a category on pages, with dynamic suggestions (documentation)  (Export)

• Allow up to 50 more characters in each of your edit summaries. Works in Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Opera.  (Export)

• Add an [edit] link for the lead section of a page  (Export)

• Keyboard shortcuts to type special characters (works in Firefox, Chrome). [example : ^ae -> æ ]  (Export)

• refTools, adds a "cite" button to the editing toolbar for quick and easy addition of commonly used citation templates.  (Export)

• Makes patrol links execute within the page. See AjaxPatrolLinks help for more info  (Export)

Editing tools for Page: namespace

• Disable OCR button in Page: namespace.  (Export)

• Horizontal layout when editing in the Page: namespace (toggles )  (Export)

• Show header and footer fields when editing in the Page namespace  (Export)

Interface

• Clock and Purge A clock in the personal toolbar that shows the current time in UTC and be clicked to purge the page  (Export)

• Change the "new section" tab text to instead display the much narrower "+".  (Export)
  Uses: Gadget-addsection-plus.js
• Alternate format for index pages - Yann and Kipmaster. Works in FF and Opera, definitely not in IE, others not tested.  (Export)

• Add mwEmbed support for improved Video Playback. You can help by providing feedback and bug reports on the respective talk pages or the mediawiki bug tracker  (Export)

• UserMessages: Adds a script for welcoming registered and IP users, with {{Welcome}} and {{Welcomeip}}. (See bottom left, below toolbox.)  (Export)

• WhatLeavesHere: A Special page for extracting all links from the current page. Accessible from the Toolbox.  (Export)

• Suppress display of the fundraiser banner.  (Export)

Development (in beta)

• Wiktionary Hover: Double click a word, and get the definition in a tooltip. (click anywhere else on screen to get rid of it). Note: If you had used the double click option to edit a page, this can still be utilised by "SHIFT double click". See [Editing] tab above.  (Export)

• Collapse the list of special characters in the edit tools area to a menu.  (Export)

• Create a toolbox link to show the page with messages from the user interface substituted with their names  (Export)

• Add a toolbox link to select and import a variety of authority control data from VIAF.  (Export)
