What is the source for this speech? Wikipedia seems to think it didn't survive (w:Rump Parliament#Oliver Cromwell). the wub "?!" 20:13, 28 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Can't find it in Carlyle's text of his speeches and letters. The first line seems to echo his speech dissolving the second Protectorate parliament, which has survived. Prosody (talk) 11:47, 20 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Oldest I can find on Google Books is here. There's another here with a little bit more information about providence. Notably they're slightly different than the text here. It still seems more like a false attribution made up in the 18th century. Prosody (talk) 11:52, 20 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
