Regarding learning Marina's surname more than two weeks later... This is actually not surprising. Russians introduce and address each other formally by their first and middle names. Informally, they call each other by their first names. Learning the last name isn't particularly important since it wouldn't normally be used in conversation, thus it could take some time to discover. Rklawton 03:16, 21 August 2006 (UTC)

Alright, I edited the annotation, thanks for the input Sherurcij (talk) (CRIMINALS ARE MADE, NOT BORN) 10:40, 21 August 2006 (UTC)

Is this not subject to copyright? Oswald died less than 70 years ago, isn't? Yann 19:49, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

Released in Volume 16 of the w:Warren Commission, if memory serves. Sherurcij (talk) (CRIMINALS ARE MADE, NOT BORN) 20:12, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
In that case the extract from Oswald's dairy would be ok, I think. It would be a kind of fair use in a PD document. But we should publish the whole Warren Report. Just for my understanding, was it PD before it was published by the US gov? The fact that the US gov publishes something written by somebody else doesn't make it PD, right? It comes down to a question of derivatives, most likely. The Warren Report is public domain, as such, anything extracted from it is also public domain. I agree, it would be nice to have the complete Report on Wikisource, it was something I looked into before starting my abortive projects on the Nixon Tapes and Pentagon Papers. A similar sense of "If it's released by the US Gov't, it's good" is used on Wikipedia for all manner of passport photos, surveillance footage and Mohammad Atta's "final instructions for the hijackers", by the 9/11 Commission. Here is a link to the correct volume of the Warren report. It include photocopies of the original handwriten diary. Official printings of US gov't are gut check acceptable IMHO. I do not understand the exact legal reasoning in this case but it another thing we need real leagal advice on.--BirgitteSB 20:27, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
