Original sources (free of copyright) can be found at SacredTexts.com - Hebrew and JPS English translation. The Hebrew text has vowels so use this tool to remove the vowels. Formatting should follow the layout used in Torah Bereishit. Yakovsh 20:34, 3 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Shumel, Melachim and Diveri HaYamim - 1 & 2 [edit]
I'm in the process of uploading all of tanach. I can do one or two sefaim a day. Question: for the three sefarim with parts 1 and 2, should we split those into two seperate sefarim, otherwise, each page might get pretty huge. And speaking of huge pages, maybe each perek should become its own page, because having the entire sefer is huge, and loading it can take a long time on non-broadband connections. -Reuvenk[T][C] 19:11, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
Project completed elsewhere [edit]
This transcription project has been completed elsewhere (outside of Wikisource). It would make sense for the results of that project to be brought back into Wikisource as well of course.
For a proofread, public domain transcription of the entire JPS 1917 Tanakh, see here:
- The Open Siddur Project], and also read the update by members of that project at this Wikisource talk page.
Regarding the scans used with "Proofread Page" (see the template at the top of this page), they really should have been done on a single full scan of the original file, rather than breaking that scan up into 4 separate parts. I.e. the transcription should reflect the structure of the original book. On that, see here at the Wikimedia Commons:
Ultimately it would make sense to erase the ongoing transcriptions of the four parts, and using one of the many excellent full scans here instead, and then migrating the text from the Open Siddur Project into our Wikisource Proofread Page transcriptions. Dovi (talk) 19:29, 2 April 2011 (UTC)
