MISHNA

Before the festivals of idol-worshipers, three days (before them), it is forbidden to do business with them, to lend them objects that are returned intact, and to borrow from them objects that are returned intact. To lend them money, and to be lent money, to repay a loan, and to be repayed a loan. Rabbi Yehuda says: "We can be repayed loans from them, because it pains him (to lose money." They (The Sages) said to him: "Even though it pains him now (when he is repaying) he will eventually be happy (that his debt is off him)."

GEMARA

Rav and Shmuel. One of them teaches: Eideihen (their festivals), with an alef, And one of them teaches eideihen with an ayin. The one who taught Eideihen with an alef is not mistaken, Deut.(32:35):Because the day of their catastrophe is close, and the one who taught Eideihen with an ayin is not mistaken, as it is written, (Isaiah 44:9) Shall they (the idols) give their testimony and they (the idol-worshipers) will be vindicated? These are the Jews. "They will hear and say it is truth", these are idol worshipers. "Rather," said Rav Huna the son of Rabbi Yehoshua "The one who says Eideihen with an ayin, from here (he proves his statement): (Isaiah 44:9) "All who make a graven image are nothingness, and the things in which they delight do not help them; they (the idols) bear witness against them (the idol worshippers)." Rabbi Chanina bar Pappa expounded, and you can say Rabbi Simlai (expounded): "In the World to Come the Holy One, Blessed is He, will bring a Torah scroll, and lay it next to his heart, and He will say:
