Template talk:Long S

This template is misleading, the glyph used is identical to the italics form of long s ʃ, but the upper case of it is a sort of sigma character ([1]), not a S as it expand actually in main. See Page:The Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy - 1729 - Volume 1.djvu/274 for a use of the italicized form of long s which shouldn't expand to S -- Phe (talk) 07:57, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The Wikipedia page, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_s, describes the typographical role of the character U+017F, which is distinct from U_0250. In my transcription work here, I am inclined to render "ſ" as "s". I'm happy to be corrected if this is not in line with the standards of this operation.
