At some point in the recent past, the Wikipedia version of this same template was expanded to to externally link to the GoogleBooks or Library of Congress versions of a hit-or-miss range of United States Statutes at Large volumes and their specific pages. This usage and functionality is depicted in the Example section of the template's documentation sub-page.
While the Wikipedia approach is better than nothing, over the months "we've" been adding most of those volumes (and then some) as djvu files to Commons and creating Indexes for them here on Wikisource. (see the current library of scans in the table below).
I was wondering what is the best way to mimic the current Wikipedia template's external functionality but in doing so replace the volume no. (prefix) so that it points to the corresponding volume Index here on Wikisource as well as have the Stat. page (suffix) point to the correct djvu scan page accounting for any pagelist alignments in play? -- George Orwell III (talk) 19:25, 3 June 2011 (UTC)
