DU BOIS, du̇-bois′, Constance Goddard, American author; b. Zanesville, Ohio. She has been an active supporter of efforts to improve the condition of the Mission Indians of southern California. She has published ‘Martha Corey: a Tale of the Salem Witchcraft’ (1890); ‘Columbus and Beatriz’ (1892); ‘A Modern Pagan’ (1895); ‘The Shield of the Fleur-de-Lys’ (1895); ‘A Soul in Bronze’ (1900); ‘Religion of the Luiseño Indians of Southern California’ (1908).
