AMERICAN PEACE SOCIETY. This society was organized in New York city 8 May 1828, and was formed by the merging of many State and local societies, the oldest of which, The New York, dated back in 1815. Located in Boston from 1837 to 1911, headquarters were removed to Washington, D. C, 1 May 1911.
