Naoroji, Rev. Dhanjibhai; b. near Broach in Gujarat, 1822; educ: at the Rev. Dr. J. William’s School; received baptism, 1839; was the subject of a writ of Habeas Corpus issued to Dr. Wilson; accompanied Dr. Wilson to England, 1813; visited Eygpt, Syria, and the Continent; studied Theology at Edinburgh for 3 years; ordained by the Free Presbytery of Edinburgh, 1846; returned to India, 1817; Missionary at Surat till 1856; at Bombay, 1856; at Poona, 1873-7; laboured in the Native Churches, Schools and the Press till after 1899.
