Sorabji, Cornelia, B.A., Legal Adviser to purdanashins, Bengal, since 1904; b. 1866; 5th d. of Rev. Sorabji Kharsedji, a Missionary of the Church Missionary Society, Poona; b. at Nasik, 1866; educ: Victoria High School, Poona; matriculated in the Bombay University; joined the Deccan College, Poona; B.A. (Bombay), 1877; gained a Fellowship in the Gujrat College at Ahmedabad, 1888; lectured on English Literature and Languages; acted as Professor of English in the College; resigned and went over to England; Scholar, Somerville College, Oxford, 1880; studied Law at Lincoln’s Inn; returned to India and applied for permission to be enrolled as Advocate but was refused; appointed Legal Adviser to purdanashins in Bengal, 1904; Awarded K-I-H. medal; 1909. Publications: Love and Life behind the Purdah; Sun-Babies, 1904; Between the Twilights; also many short stories and articles in English Magazines and Reviews. Address: Calcutta, India.
