Twigg, Sir John, K.C.I.E. (1913), I.C.S., (retired); s. of John Hanbury Twigg, Repton; b. 1856; educ: Balliol College, Oxford; joined M.C.S. as Assistant Collector and Magistrate, 1879; acted in the various lower grades in various parts of the Presidency; Collector and Magistrate, 1899; Collector of Sea Customs, Madras, and Chairman, Madras Harbour Trust Board, 1901-05; 4th Member, Board of Revenue, Madras, and Commissioner of Salt, Abkari and Separate Revenue, 1906; 2nd Member, Board of Revenue, 1908; Additional Member, Legislative Council, Madras, 1903-04; retired. 1912; m. Isabel Marie, d. of Henry Pasteur of Wynches. Address: The Red House, Mettingham, Bungay. Club: East India United Service.
