Lasta Kiso / The Last Kiss  (1912)

Literal English Translation Original Esperanto Line

Last Kiss

You fly where, butterfly,
  Trembling and quickly?
By now the rose and lily lie dead
  and the treacherous frost comes.

Your wing as if a lamp
  Shines in the fog.
You seek for whom, through the fog,
  A lost person of summer?

The garden is a desert,
  Through which roamed your love
Skeletons seem like true comings
  Under an oak without leaves

You fly why, in the cold
  Through flowers in the graveyard?
On all places raining tears
  Now rest in the grassland.

All are silent in the nests
  And pleasant smells disappear.
Already you give up the battle with evening
  About the blossoms' hearts.

Behold resting only in a vast field
  Wilted chrysanthemums.
On which your last kiss
  Will kill you with tremors.

Lasta Kiso

Vi kien flugas, papilio,
  Tremante kaj rapide?
Jam mortis rozo kaj lilio
  Kaj venas frost' perfide.

Flugilo viaj kvazaŭ lampo
  Briletas en nebulo.
Vi kion serĉas tra la kampo,
  Perdita somerulo?

Dezertaj estas la ĝardenoj,
  Tra kiuj vagis amo via.
Skeletoj ŝajnas la vervenoj
  Sub kverko senfolia.

Vi kial flugas en malvarmo
  Tra floro la tombejo?
Sur ĉiu loko pluva larmo
  Nun restas en herbejo.

Silentas ĉiuj en la nestoj
  Kaj svenis bonodoroj
Jam ne batalos vi kun vespoj
  Pri la floretaj koroj.

Jen restas nur en kampo vasta
  Velkinta krizantemo
Sur kiu kiso via lasta
  Mortigos vin en tremo.
