KLOSS, klṓs, Georg Burkhard Franz (1787-1854). A German historian of Freemasonry. He was born in Frankfort, and studied and practiced medicine there. His works, which are fundamental to the history of the Order, include: Bibliographie der Freimaurerei (1844); Freimaurerei in ihrer wahren Bedeutung (2d ed., 1855); Geschichte der Freimaurerei in England, Irland und Schottland (1848); and Geschichte der Freimaurerei in Frankreich (1852-53).
